Bass , Bream, Brill, Blonde Ray, Cod, Conger Eel, Dogfish, Garfish, Huss, Mackerel, Pollack, Pout, Scad, Shark, Spurdog, Tope, Turbot, Wrasse, Whiting - to name just a few of the 80 species recorded locally.

If sea angling is your thing then the waters off Weymouth and Portland have it all. From the infamous Shambles Bank to the rollercoaster ride of drift fishing The Race - fishing these local marks can become quiet addictive! - yielding conger to 103lb, ling to 42lb, cod to 22lb and coalfish to 27lb.

Weymouth’s 20 boat charter fleet - one of the largest in the UK - are fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Their skippers having a combined knowledge of about 800 local wreck sites can offer an action packed weekend whatever your tastes.

If EFSA, the organisers of the European Boat Championships weren’t so happy with the local crews and conditions they would not have asked Weymouth & Portland’s council to have them back for the European Championships in 2006 - that’s some endorsement!

More information about trips can be found in our Library or by phoning Weymouth Angling Centre on 01305 - 777771
