The sea waters of
Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour have long been considered
by sailing people to be amongst the best along the south coast.
The winds are fairly consistently from the west and the waters
are very clean, clear and on the whole well sheltered. There
isn't much weed and the area isn't as busy as the more well
known sailing waters of Poole Harbour or The Solent. All this
adds up to attractive sailing not only for holiday makers and
cruisers but for racing as well. |
